I’m the proud son of Cuban refugees and the first Latino elected to the Bethlehem Town Board. My parents came to the United States in 1962 with one bag and two outfits. They left their family, culture, and language behind for a chance at a better life for themselves and their new growing family.
My commitment to public service is rooted in my desire to honor the sacrifices they made for me and my brother. My mom was a volunteer and a teachers’ aide and she showed me how important it is to give back and repay the country that have us hope and opportunity.
Now I’m a father with two daughters and husband to my wife, Christine. We purchased our first home in Bethlehem in 1999 because of the truly amazing quality of life found here.
I’ve coached youth sports, participated in school and community organizations, and have committed myself to mentorship and civic engagement. I take pride in being accessible to neighbors, community groups, and local businesses and I will always do whatever I can to help them thrive.
By working together, we can ensure our community grows even stronger for generations to come.
Every day, I do my best to honor the sacrifices made by my parents and to live up to the example set by my mom.
That’s why I’ve dedicated my life to public service.
I’ve worked in New York State Government for over 30 years, serving in various senior level positions both the Legislative and Executive branches. Currently, I’m a Senior Advisor to New York State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie.
Those experiences have shown me the power government can have when it truly works for the people.
I’ve seen what’s possible when compassion and action come together and I know we can do so much more. I strive to continue that work every day, bringing our community closer together and making sure every family has the same chances mine did.
Our community is only as good as we make it, and I love giving back to the organizations that make Bethlehem what it is. The quality of life we enjoy here is largely due to our neighbors, friends and family members who volunteer countless hours at various community groups, organizations, and at our schools.
These relationships have shown me that despite our different life experiences, backgrounds, and ideologies, we all have so much more in common than what divides us. We all want what’s best for our children, parents, grandparents, families, friends, and neighbors.
